We're currently developing a short teaser for our 2D Flash Adventure/Comedy Norse myth show Metal Heads, Art Directed by Dave MacDougall.

It's been a while....if you haven't already seen it, here's the music video LOCUST for the heavy metal band Machine Head on Roadrunner Records, we completed last year. Swamp Ape Studios handled all the VFX, and we hired our pals mad monster-maker's Mark Villalobos & Ron Karkoska, over at LA's Make-Up FX house Monster Effects to build & perform the Practical Locust Creature. The video was also Art Directed by Concept Artist Paul Gerrard (Battle: LA, Paradise Lost).

Monsters & Mayhem for Machine Head

Posted by Von Kreep On 9:22 PM 0 comments

Swamp Ape Studios has been hard at work for the past several months creating an arsenal of Special Visual Effects shots for the upcoming Machine Head video Locust, headed by  Director Mike Sloat for Roadrunner Records.

Swamp Ape Founder/Producer Von Kreep, was hired during pre-production by Art Director Paul Gerrard (Battle: LA) as VFX Producer. Von brought the creative team together to give Paul's nightmarish 2D artwork into terrifying  three dimensional life . The entire digital workload including; CG modeling/surfacing, animating a swarm of locusts, compositing, and much more is being handled by LA based VFX Supervisor/Artist Adam Lima.

Being a long time fan of old school practical creature FX, Von enlisted the help from his pal's over at LA's make-up effects shop Monster Effects, headed by Mark Villalobos to build a life size fully articulated locust creature puppet.

Swamp Ape is thrilled to be involved on a such fun project, where we get the opportunity to create cool visuals that accompany a brutal metal song, along side other creative like minded horror fans.
